There are three TeaCamp-style events happening through November and December. Applycamp on the 22nd November is followed by the second AgileTea event on Thursday 24 November. Both deal with Government procurement although Applycamp is specifically for the G-cloud framework. Finally the original TeaCamp is on Thursday 1st December.
Tuesday 22 November: ApplyCamp
3pm -5pm Location: Google, 76 Buckingham Palace Road, London SW1W 9TQ As part of the Government's commitments to SME's ApplyCamp is being run on Tuesday 22 November in central London for suppliers who want to know more about applying for Government G-cloud but were afraid to ask. G-Cloud is the Government’s programme to set up a marketplace of Cloud service providers: IaaS, PaaS, SaaS and specialist cloud services. If you are a supplier that has never participated in a government tender exercise, Government procurement can seem really complex and confusing. This is where ApplyCamp can help! At Apply camp we will: - Explain G-Cloud - Explain the steps in the OJEU process - Explain what information you need to give - Explain what happens next More details are available on the event page. We aim to stream the event live and take questions so you don't even need to be in London to participate. For further updates see the G-cloud Twitter feed For more information on how Government is supporting SMEs or on the ICT G-Cloud, follow @SMECrownRep on Twitter and check out Chris Chant's blog posts on the Government Digital Service blog.
Update - The slides from the event are now available on SlideShare:
Thursday 24 November : 'Procure & Deliver' - the 2nd AgileTeaCamp
4pm - 6pm at Cafe Zest, House of Fraser, Victoria Street, London Following on from Chris Chant's blog on how government is levelling the playing field for SME's and is looking to make the procurement process easier, the second AgileTea camp will include speakers that will focus on their experience of procurement and how to become an intelligent buyer, as well as provide an update on the Agile Delivery Network. Make a date in your diary for tea and cake while networking, sharing and listening to people chat. Who will be speaking this month? Derrick Cameron- Derrick is the MD of software consultancy Eximium and COO of agile software technology house Procession. Derrick will be speaking about the 'Becoming the Intelligent Buyer'. He will discuss "tackling the challenge of procuring the right technology solutions to meet the current and future needs of an organisation. Does the process start with what you want or with what features each technology can provide?" Chris Parsons - is a founding member of the Agile Delivery Network and has been crafting software professionally for 12 years and is a freelance thinker, coder and trainer. Chris will be talking about the story behind the e-petitions project and the aims of the Agile Delivery Network. For those new to AgileTea: AgileTea is a regular series of informal, BarCamp style events that will bring together like-minded people to hear, contribute and engage in discussion of Agile methodology and it's application in govt and beyond on a regular basis over tea and cake. AgileTea is open to all, users and suppliers, public sector and private sector. Each AgileTea meeting will have guest speakers, anyone can nominate themselves and it is open to all who wants to share ideas with others working on agile projects.Come along - there's no need to book, see you there! Next time you stream a Teacamp session (as you did at ApplyCamp), *please* use a proper fit-for-purpose webinar solution!
Using a grainy webcam to try and cover presenters and the projected slides was doomed to failure. We couldn't see the slides - or the presenter - for most of the time.
Take a look at GoToWebinar to see how it should be done properly - screen sharing to show your slides, and a webcam on the presenter, with "hands-up" and polling support.
[I'm not associated with Citrix of GoToWebinar other than as a happy user!]
